The fireplace

Nearly a year ago (I can hardly believe it..) I introduced you to a very special place here.

I spoke of plans to beautify and make purpose of it and it took us almost an entire year to do so. Shameful, yes.. but I think time has its own way of prioritizing and I'm glad we began this project when we did.

I needed it then but I need it now.

Today, finally, my oldest friend and I set out with supplies in tow and holding the hand of the only kid I know who will actually appreciate such a beautiful memory.  

We couldn't have asked for more perfect weather or for a more perfect Pandora station to fill the air while we scrubbed each brick with vivid colors, danced about our rugged little utopia, and watched each other transform into dusty rainbow versions of ourselves.

Although there is flower planting and coloring higher up the chimney to be done and better pictures to be taken we made amazing progress and are so proud of what we've created with so little.. Especially Savannah. We're all so lucky to have been a part of it together and it is already one of my most cherished memories with those two.

Sometimes my life feels like a dream or an overly-enchanting book even when I'm living it and it's because of moments like this.

Let it never be ordinary like the fireplace's previous state.
