Yesterday was rough. It was the kind of day spent entirely in tears and questions about every decision I've ever made. Have I ever made a single good one? I could easily say no at this point, but that would be disregarding something very important to me. I made the decision to start a blog a year and a half ago and now I've been nominated for an award! I don't get fame or fortune out of it or anything but just the fact that someone out there considered me feels like maybe I'm not so bad after all.
Essentially, this award's purpose is to highlight blogs with less than 200 followers and pretty much just spread awareness.. if you will. Ha. In turn, I am to nominate 11 lesser known bloggers for it as well. I am ashamed to say that I can't even think of one besides my brother's so I'm going to do some research and hopefully find a few that I really love and deserve the love that comes with being nominated.
Also, there are rules:
1. List 11 facts about yourself
2. Answer the 11 questions the blogger who nominated you left
3. Ask 11 questions for those you nominate
4. Choose 11 bloggers with less than 200 followers to nominate
5. Go to each blogger's page and let them know about the award
6. Thank the person who nominated you and link back to their blog
Facts:
One: I haven't been nominated for anything ever except Best Dressed in high school. 3(!!!) Taylors were nominated and in my heart of hearts I believe people just chose the name that sounded "right", which was Taylor Serna. The girl who wore Hollister t-shirts with basketball pants, Chanel earrings, and a ribbon tied up in her hair was Hanford West High School's "Best Dressed" female senior. To this day I believe that I was supposed to win.
Two: My brother and I intend on applying for The Amazing Race when he turns 21.
Three: I like to sing songs that are really fast even more than regular songs.
Four: Apparently I am in to metaphysics. A psychic made me aware of that yesterday. I'm not a new age hippie, i'm a meta-physicist which makes me sound so much smarter..
Five: I have a birthmark on my neck that my Nana used to think was just filth and would try and scrub off of me in the bath. You can't usually see it but some days it makes itself highly visible.
Six: The best compliment I have ever received was, "You look like you belong in an Anthropologie catalog." from a lovely woman in my sewing class, Natasha.
Seven: I cuss a lot. I'm not sure if that makes me endearing somehow or just disgusting but I also am not sure that I care. And at work I tend to talk like a "bro" to my co-workers..
Eight: I want to run away but I don't know how.
Nine: I almost always wear fuzzy socks to bed. Sexy indeed. Sometimes my feet get hot and I take them off and wake up with them on the pillow next to me.
Ten: I want to buy an old house full of history one day and remodel it with my own two hands. I'm pretty handy and have watched a lot of HGTV over the years so i'm pretty confident in my abilities to do so.
Eleven: I read books more than once more often than not. In a way, this is preventing me from reading books I haven't yet because I'm reading books I've already read. When I finish The Hours (which I have probably read 5 times already) I plan on reading a "new" book. Balance.. I need it desperately.
Answers:
1. Who is your favorite historical figure?
This was an incredibly hard first question for me! For some reason I have always been fascinated by Anastasia. I like the unknown.. I like to imagine that she got away and that she had to live a trying and lonesome and gritty life to become who she was meant to be. I like to imagine that she overcame and that she ended up being happy for everything she had gone through. I know that it has since been concluded that she was in fact executed as well, and did not get away but I still want to believe that she did..
2. Are you a neat freak or do your belongings kind of live wherever they land?
I'm a definitely more of a neat freak than otherwise although I have gotten lazier over the years. Sometimes I let the little table in my room where my record player sits act as a catch all and it gets cluttered with bills and clean clothes and books and candy wrappers... but everything does have its place and ends up there eventually.
3. Describe your perfect day. That's kind of a question?
My perfect day isn't set in stone really, I could have a lot of perfect days in different ways probably. Ideally (and unrealistically) I imagine it involves a picnic near some sort of waterfall, a discovery of treasure, quiet air interrupted by laughter and meaningful conversation, kissing and chasing and a good playlist for the ride home. Perhaps its involves a night spent in a treehouse reading aloud and drinking something delicious before falling asleep and having a lovely dream. If I ever end up on a dating website I will post this exactly.
4. What is your writing utensil of choice?
I like fat super smooth writing pens, usually black ink although there is a pen at work from some random company that it absolute perfection and it writes blue.
5. What is your best Summer memory?
Oh man... I would probably say when Fredo & I went camping last Summer through Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks. Although truthfully speaking, my entire Summer of 2012 was my best Summer memory. Mineral King with Megan, Potwisha with some beloved, Santa Cruz with Jayce, Disneyland with my family, Aids Walk and Gold Country and Big Sur... it would be hard to beat if not impossible.
6. What problem did you solve today?
So far nothing. Doesn't look too promising either really. I might hang out with Seannah so that could solve the problem of living in the same town as your friend and not seeing her for 5 months..
7. When is the last time you were in an airplane?
November 14 I was on a plane from Portland to Long Beach. I should have never even gotten on.
8. Who is your favorite author/director/artist?
This question absolutely kills me. As far as authors go its hard because so many speak to me... I just can't choose a favorite. Director, easily Wes Anderson. Artist, Rob Ryan..
9. What is your favorite past time?
Bike riding, baking, climbing trees, for fun "photoshoots", making things beautiful, reading, wandering.
10. What topic are you bored talking about?
I don't enjoy talking about religion.. also, my mental incompetence.
11. What was your hands down best concert experience, EVER?
I would really like to say Foster the People because I was there with the people I love most all together and because they're one of my favorites but honestly I think I had more fun at The Black Keys with Megan. I think its because we were general admission.
